After a trip to the Twin Peaks Herd Management Area and experiencing the thrill of seeing horses in the wild, we realized there may be others who wish to observe unbound Mustangs. So armed with our cameras, binoculars, maps and 4WD we will venture into these wild and rugged places. Within these electronic pages we will share what is out there… Where The Wild Horses Are… living life naturally. Exploring also some of the places they come to be when removed from these management areas.

Another Beautiful Day at Twin Peaks HMA cont...

July 31, 2010 ~ The afternoon adventure.
Shinn Ranch Proper

After driving for what seemed hours on very rough roads we finally saw this herd in the distance. Behind them is what I think is called Cherry Mountain.
Huge Antelope out there!
And Deer!

While passing through Shinn Ranch we talked to some hunters out scouting Antelope, they had been all over that area. We asked if they had seen any horses he said "No we didn't see any, they must have them all run out of here, there are usually a lot. The only place we have seen any is on Shinn Peak." He was referring to the horses we had seen too. He also told us he had been coming to that area since he was 7 years old hunting and since the "lottery" started it took 12 years for him to get a hunting tag again.

It got dark on our way back to camp and out in the middle of nowhere camping out in the rocks were 4 more hunters scouting Trophy Antelope and Deer.

Wow what a 4 wheelin adventure!
